The Young Theatre

The Young Theatre is a sister theatre company and registered charity of Red Kite.  Red Kite Theatre Company is a working name for The Young Theatre charity.

Young Theatre was originally formed in North Harrow on Sunday 12th January 1964.

On 31st May 1970 a sister group was formed in Beaconsfield.  The North Harrow group closed in 1983.

The Young Theatre at Beaconsfield has continued to thrive.  In 2025, The Chilterns Theatre Company, the charity that Red Kite Theatre Company belonged to, was going to close and it was agreed that Young Theatre at Beaconsfield and the Chilterns Theatre Company would merge and that the charity would be renamed The Young Theatre.

The charity's main focus is allowing Young Theatre at Beaconsfield's 56 years of existence as its primary focus, but would allow adults within Beaconsfield, many of whom have been associated with Young Theatre as past members and supporters to have a place to perform more age appropriate material whilst still supporting the aims and values of Young Theatre.

The Young Theatre hopes that Red Kite will become the natural home of Young Theatre members who wish to continue performing, but within a more adult orientated setting and allow a broader ranges of plays that would not be suitable for the normal Young Theatre membership that has a core age range of 8 to 18.
